{PRETITLE} Atlas of Human Anatomy, Professional Edition {POSTTITLE}
Currently I am a graduate student at Colorado State University. As a part of my program I must take human dissection. I like this atlas so much that I bought the professional edition for my own study outside the anatomy rooms and I now use my old softcover Netter atlas for dissection. I must also say the main difference between the professional edition and the softcover edition is mainly the covering of the atlas, and there are hardly any other differences. While the pictures are not real photos, the paintings done by Dr. Netter are so accurate I almost prefer them. Based on the pictures I am able to get a clear idea of where structures are positioned before cutting or doing blunt dissection with my fingers/probe/scissors. That being said, there is also great benefit to seeing what the structures should look like after a professional dissection in photographs. I believe it is best to have exposure to both excellent pictures (like in this atlas, for a general location and a grip on vocabulary) and either a cadaver or photos taken by a professional anatomist. I highly recommend this atlas.By Paul Brown
Netter is pretty great. An institution, even. Hardcover is essential. My only issue with this product is the online 'companion'. It is difficult to search for images, and actually find what you are looking for. The quality is not as high as I would expect, and is fuzzy when blown up to 8.5 x 11 page size. You also can't download or copy photos into your own notes. Probably for copyright protection, but then why put a "download" button (which does not work). The book itself is great!By laura kingq
